About the Barrie Photo Club
Founded in 2008, the Barrie Photo Club is a non-profit club located in the area of Barrie, Ontario. Since 2008, the club has grown from just 13 members to over 130 active members with a wide age range from early teens to seniors.
Open to everyone, of all skill levels, the club meets on a monthly basis on the last Thursday of each month**, from 7pm to 9.30pm at the Southshore Community Centre. Free Parking. **
At most meetings we invite guest speakers from around the Toronto and Simcoe County area.
Barrie Photo Club aims to create and maintain an active photographic community which supports members in their growth and development as photographers and provides varied opportunities for gaining new knowledge, skills, development, technical improvement, expansion of perspective, sharing of photographic art and enjoyment of the craft.
The key aspects of our club include:
A) Monthly general members meeting, visitors are welcome for a modest fee ($10)
B) Monthly photographic outings (for club members only)
C) Periodic spontaneous outings, (either club or member initiated)
D) Periodic training and seminars
E) At the end of each meeting we present a slideshow of works submitted by our members (see our Gallery/slideshow section for more details).
F) A closed group Facebook page for BPC members to communicate, display their work, ask for help etc.
H) An annual exhibition of members’ work at the Barrie City Hall Rotunda...Usually in June.
I) Interclub Competitions.
Visitors are also welcome to attend meetings for a nominal fee of $10, which may be applied towards membership should they decide to join the club at that meeting or before or at the next meeting (Not applicable after Aug 1st). Maximum of two “visits” to club meetings.
Visitor exception….. ……members’ partners are invited, no charge to the club socials events in December.
**December meeting is held earlier in the month to avoid Christmas calendar conflicts and is a social event
